Hi Bruce:
You are doing great!? I am not complaining, BUT - - -
When the unpaid staff gets the time, here are a couple suggestions:
1) Make all segments just a little less than 30 minutes or 60 minutes long
2) Program the segments so they always start on the hour or half hour
3) So there is no "dead time" between segments, always fill in with Bill Taggart's favorite song, which I forget right now
4) Schedule the programs (segments)?ahead of time, and on a monthly basis issue an e-mail newsletter listing the start time of each program for the coming month
5) This means you have to put a descriptive name on each segment
6) In your spare time put on another pot of coffee.
George

Subject: [Tradjazz] good stuff on Radio OKOM
As many of you know, the OKOM operation was founded as a Labor of Love by
Bill Taggart. All of us at OKOM (record library coordination, engineering,
program producers etc.) are unpaid volunteers. The situation is further
complicated by the geographical location of the OKOM facilities (i.e.
almost two hours, EACH WAY, for me).
Since many of us listen "all the time," there have been complaints about
the "repeating" shows on Radio OKOM. The fact is that it's nothing short
of amazing that we have accululated almost two months of 24 hour
programming (which is run continuously). We manage to add a few "new"
hours each week.
The whole thing is a work in progress and we are constantly discussing
improvements (some of which are implimented).
Please keep all of this in mind when judging our work. Thank you.

I was prompted to send this message because right now (10AM EST) we are
running programs with members of the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Band as
guests.
