Wednesday, June 18th, 7PM, The GJB with Ben Griffin (tromb, US Coast Guard),
Bob Price (bnjo), and Jane Campedelli played a free concert at the Sherman
Green Gazebo in Fairfield…….., and what a night it was! After 40 minutes of
clear skies, all hell broke loose! The wind, the rain, the lightening, the
thunder, it was incredible! So we invited the fans to join us in the gazebo, and
we played some very hot stuff while trying to ignore the monsoon going on
outside. We even dedicated the tune Bill Bailey to Jean Hadley's friend, Bill
Bailey! It was truly a memorable evening!

Thanks once again for your help in raising travel money for my friend JP
Alessi from Irigny, France. I've collected $605 so far, just $395 to go to reach
the $1,000 needed. Remember, JP will be a guest sax player with the GJB at
the Great CT Trad Jazz Fest, July 25-27, and he has agreed to pay his own
travel expenses. In the mean time, he lost his day job and totaled his car! Any
amount will help, but for $50 or more, you'll get a recording of the GJB at
this year's Great CT Trad Jazz Fest. Please, send your check to me, Fred
Vigorito, 20 Ledgeview Lane, Guilford, CT 06437. Thank you!

Essex Fire Department Parade Sunday June 22nd
This was the Essex Fire Department's 175th anniversary celebration, and Art
Hovey's Sugarfoot Youth Band provided some hot jazz, with a little help from
Art Hovey, Russ Whitman and Fred Vigorito. That's right, the old guys helping
the young guys/gals! There was an incredible hail/rain/wind storm just before
we got started, but once we kicked of Original Dixieland One Step, the weather
quieted down and the crowd roared! These young musicians sounded great!

Bill Logozzo's Heartbeat Jazz Band will be at Olivers in Essex on Thursday,
July 3rd, 7-10PM, with Skip Hughes! They'll also be there on Thursday, July
17th. This is a great spot, nice casual atmosphere, and good food at a
reasonable price. Of course the music is hot hot hot! Dancing too! Look for them at
Olivers usually on the first and third Thursday of each month. Contact Bill
Logozzo at Bill at nutmegchrome.com or www.heartbeatjazzband.net for information
on the band and how to order CDs.

Scott Kahn (bass) is getting around. Look for him on:

Saturday, June 28th, 8-12 at 95 Gathering, N. Colony Rd, Wallingford.
Friday, July 18th, and Aug 1st, Café Allegre in Madison, 8-11.

Sunday, July 6, Levitt Pavillion-Westport, the Galvanized Jazz Band in
concert with Neil DeFeo and Joel Schiavone, 7-8:30PM.

Sunday, July 20th, Guilford Green, the Galvanized Jazz Band in concert with
Jim Fryer, Jane Campedelli and Joel Schiavone, 6:30-8PM. Also, Art Hovey's
Sugarfoot Youth Band will play at 6PM, and then join the GJB for a grand finale!

Paris Washboard Coming to the USA!

They will be appearing at the Bickford Theatre in Morristown on Tuesday
evening, August 5 -- the day after the Wolverines, a world class Australian band,
play there. This exclusive East Coast stop is their first visit to the US in
two years. Given the plunging dollar and the escalating cost of flights,
future visits are in doubt, to say the least. The Bickford Box Office is at
(973) 971-3706, and they can supply further information and sell tickets over the
phone. Previous visits have resulted in sellouts, so order tickets ahead of
time. Daniel Barda, Alain Marquet and Gerrard Bagot will be on this trip,
but Louis Mazetier must fly directly to the Orange County Classic in Costa
Mesa, their ultimate destination this trip. The fabulous Jeff Barnhart will play
piano.

Suncoast Dixieland Jazz Classic, Nov 21-23, Clearwater Florida

We'll be there with Craig Grant, Jane Campedelli, and Bob Price, along with
24 other bands! This is one of the best Jazz Festival's in the world, so buy
your tickets now. Go to www.jazzclassic.net for details.
